PBN COURSE

– Performance Based Navigation –

The PBN Course is an essential requirement for all Instrument Ratings (IR) from 2020. All IRs must be supported by a PBN certification (Performance Based Navigation), by completing a course in an authorized ATO.

Our PBN Course aims to impart all the necessary skills established by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for Performance Based Navigation (GPS).

Our Alsim AL42 FNTP II and Alsim ALX simulators are duly certified according to the requirements for PBN teaching and proficiency tests.

CONTENT STRUCTURE

The course will begin with the theoretical phase, in which the regulated knowledge will be acquired to obtain the PBN certification.

After the theoretical part, the corresponding simulator sessions will be held with briefing and de-briefing to ensure maximum benefit is received from all sessions. Procedures and manoeuvres performed in each session will be discussed for the subsequent passing of the skill test.

– Performance Based Navigation –

THEORY

The theory conpontnet of the PBN Course consists of 8 hours of classes in which flight procedures, systems, sensors and area navigation functionalities will be identified to fulfill the scope of the standard required by the International Civil Aviation Organization – ICAO.

8h THEORETICS + OFFICIAL EXAM

The theory consists of the following modules:

PBN Concepts
Navigation Specifications
PBN Use
PBN Operations
Specific requirements for RNAV and RNP specifications
Knowledge exam

SIMULATOR

In advanced simulator flight sessions, all PBN approach modes will be reached and treated, both with the automatic pilot and manual flight, with and without incorrect failures/instructions.

2H FNPT II SIMULATOR

PBN ability check.
Check airport charts and identify the navigation aids necessary for the procedures.
RNAV SID.
Transition to instrument flight.
STAR RNAV.
LNAV / VNAV approaches.
LP / LPV approaches.
