In addition to the general categories, each year, Air Hostess grants a special mention that, this edition, has fallen to the Asturian José Manuel Pulgar, a survivor of the plane crash of Durango (Mexico), last July 2018.
Pulgar, who earned the nickname of ‘Hero of Durango’, was travelling on the Aeromexico Flight 2431, from Durango and bound for Mexico City. The aircraft took off with adverse weather and crashed seconds later at the outer end of the airport. Fortunately, all of its occupants were unharmed, but, Pulgar, did not hesitate a moment to risk his safety to help evacuate several children and a senior woman. It is for his bravery that Air Hostess gives him the special mention of its awards this year.
